Details for the Weekend
VENUE
Loloma Lodge
A beautiful outdoor venue amongst the trees on the McKenzie River. The grounds have paved and gravel paths and plenty of parking. All the events will be here.
WHERE TO STAY
We suggest staying in accommodations close by. McKenzie Bridge is a popular vacation spot so book early!
WHAT TO BRING
The area is remote so you will want to bring with you what you’ll need for the weekend.
Food & drink for when you are not at the events. We’ll get more detailed about food we are providing closer to the time. McKenzie General Store & Obsidian Grill Restaurant is close by and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner (open 8-8pm). There are no supermarkets nearby. If coming from Portland, Eugene is a good spot to grab groceries and any other supplies.
Ways to stay dry. Whatever that looks like for you - rain jacket or umbrella. Let’s all be prepared so it doesn’t rain!
Ways to stay warm. Wind can be a factor in central Oregon and nights will be cooler.
Walking shoes for pretty hikes in the area.
Water bottles to fill up with Loloma Lodge’s delicious spring water.
WEATHER
The first weekend of October lands right at the beginning of fall. The weather is unpredictable. It could feel like the tail end of summer and be dry and pleasantly warm during the day with cooler nights. Or it could feel like the beginning of fall with misty air, fall forest smells and turning leaves.
The weather will likely be mild for the Pacific Northwest but this means being prepared for sun, rain, cooler temperatures and cooler nights. We will have a tent and heaters for the reception, and umbrellas for the ceremony just in case.
NEARBY ATTRACTIONS
There are beautiful hikes nearby, including a 2.6 mile waterfall loop that starts at 100-foot-tall Sahalie Falls. The upper McKenzie River consists of water from springs and aquifers which has been underground for up to 7 years. Take a cold plunge on the side of the river or go rafting with local tour guides.
Visit McKenzie River Ranger Station for Willamette National Forest maps, publications, recreational activities, permits and passes. Open 8:30am – 4:30pm
Belknap Hot Springs, Lodge and Gardens offers hourly passes to their riverside hot spring pool. No kids under five.
