Getting to Oregon

We recommend flying into Portland Airport (PDX). Portland is a fun city so we recommend spending some time here. We’d also love to host something at our house sometime the week leading up to the wedding for anyone who is in town.

There is a small airport in Eugene Oregon which is a one hr drive from the venue. We don’t have any experience with this airport but it is much smaller than Portland.

Traveling to the Venue

Unfortunately traveling by car is the best and probably only way to get down there. McKenzie Bridge is a 2.5 hrs drive from Portland, OR.

McKenzie Bridge is a rustic town. You’ll want to do a grocery shop in Portland or Eugene. Accommodations will have fridges, the venue also has a big fridge.

Oregon Tips & Tricks

You can buy wine and beer at the grocery store, but you’ll need to go to a liquor store for spirits. There are wine shops for a nicer selection of wines.

Mariuana is legal in Oregon. You’ll find dispensaries all over.

Oregon has no sales tax! That means the price you see is the price you pay.

Tipping is 20-25% at restaurants. Can be less if you are buying at a counter.

There was recently a law passed that allows you to pump your own petrol. Most places will have attendants that are happy to pump your gas.

October Weather

The first weekend of October lands right at the beginning of fall. The weather is unpredictable. It could feel like the tail end of summer and be dry and pleasantly warm during the day with cooler nights. Or it could feel like the beginning of fall with misty air, fall forest smells and turning leaves.

The weather will likely be mild for the Pacific Northwest but this means being prepared for sun, rain, cooler temperatures and cooler nights. We will have a tent and heaters for the reception, and umbrellas for the ceremony just in case.

We are so touched you are able to make it all the way to Oregon. We understand how much of a journey it is so please reach out with any questions.
